About the Role
Matchday is seeking an innovative systems designer to join our Game Studio Team. You will be responsible for designing compelling game systems, features, and economies, and collaborating with our engineering, product and art teams on their implementation.
This is a unique opportunity to design football games with AAA licenses such as FIFA & FIFPRO, and bring together the worlds of gaming, web2 and web3 to delight 5B football fans around the world.
This is a remote-first full-time position based in Europe, the USA or Canada, with occasional travel to jam in-person with other members of the Matchday team. This role reports into the Design Lead.
What You'll Do
- Design engaging progression, social and monetization systems that appeal to a wide range of football fans.
- Strike the right balance between player retention, engagement, and monetization objectives.
- Develop comprehensive models (difficulty, matchmaking, etc) to measure the impact of your designs.
- Leverage A/B testing and rapid experimentation to validate hypotheses.
- Analyze community feedback and telemetry data for continuous optimization.
- Actively monitor and tweak the game systems already available in live ops.
- Contribute to nurturing the team’s collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Collaborate closely with all other studio functions.
You Have
- 3+ years of design or data analysis experience, with a strong focus on reward systems, economies, and gameplay loops.
- A portfolio that showcases your skills, with at least 1 shipped title.
- Expert understanding of free-to-play and game-as-a-service best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design rationales and decisions.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
