The Playbook shares details about Matchday’s vision, products, and roadmap.

At Matchday, our mission is to connect football’s 5 billion fans through games. We do so by building the Matchday Universe - an ecosystem of games that live in the same shared universe of identity.

Matchday builds first-party games, and opens up the Universe to third party games as well. The first game to kickstart the Matchday Universe is Matchday Champions.

Core Principles

  1. Gameplay First: We believe that any successful ecosystem stems from having great games that players love.
  2. Interoperability: All player progression and all items in the Matchday Universe have the ability to be used in any game.
  3. Community Driven: Community is the beating heart of the Matchday Universe, and that extends from listening to our players, to supporting and empowering creators.
  4. True Ownership: We want all players to own the in-game items they value, and it’s our job to provide players the means and platform to exercise their ownership.

Our use of technology - whether blockchain or AI - are meant to help us enable these core principles.

Matchday was started by a seasoned team of founders, with combined exits of >$2B. We have assembled a team of experienced game developers and football fanatics, with past experience at EA Sports, Glu, Scopely, Sports Interactive (Football Manager), King, and many other world class companies
